Aims: Report and look into other designs for the porous structures
This week am going to start with my report and try and get everything together. The topics which am going to put in my report depends on the testing I do and my research of the whole project. Next week I will be doing porous structures designs and seeing if I get to make a test out it.
Proximal part of the stem has a porous Titanium structure intended for in growth of bone tissues. Deep in growth of bone into the implant provides perfect fixation and stability of the stem. The pores are designed to preserve the natural nutrition of femoral bone and facilitate rehabilitation by unrestricted flow of blood, which builds new tissues. Strong connection of bone and implant reduces friction in the intramuscular cavity and saves patients from pain in the hip.
Similar porous structures are used in other hip implants produced by AL-TIMED, which creates integral system of total hip implants with uncemented fixation.
